Mixed Media Swing Tags

Hello Everyone,

The inspiration for these tags comes from Prima Marketing Inc's Live with Prima - called "Mixed Media Tags with Anna Dabrowska on Live with Prima". It a very long video, but I really enjoyed watching it and then creating the tags.

I have a few Tim Holtz tags, but for me the Color was not right so in the end I used a tag as a template and crated my own tags from pieces of American Crafts cardstock that I have leftover from when I create pages.

Absent Me

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I have absent recently, I have been through a patch of bad health and I am finally coming out the other side.

I have had a good weekend (and Monday), I'm losing track of the days now the kids are on holidays, and I hope to put up a post tomorrow about what I have created.

Texture Tuesday @ Scrap Matrix - 09/12/14

Hello Everyone,

This week we used Blue Fern Studio's December Challenge as our inspiration. Here's the sketch:

With this challenge you have to use either their paper or chipboard. So I decided to use both. Here's a picture of my starting point:

This was the DT page that inspired me:

I really love the White and the black with the touches of red.

I started off by cutting my papers down to size. I then created the background. To create the background I started by embossing with the "Tiles" stencil from Crafters Workshop, I then tried to add lined of gesso but it didn't work very well. while this dried I cut out the birds from the B-side of the papers that I had saved to use.

I then decided that my elements were lost on the background and I needed something behind to make them stand out more. I used a Tattered Angels mask with Prima Art Basics Heavy Gesso. By this time it was time to head out to my afternoon appointments.

I was not very happy with the way it looked, but I figured I would take it home and keep working on it there.

In the end I am very happy with the page. By adding some scraps of paper from my collection I was about to create a page I really love. It took me about two days of fiddling with it to be happy.  Here it is:

Here are some close-ups, I especially love how the title ended up:

Texture Tuesday @ Scrap Matrix - 18/11/2014

Hello Everyone,

We had another great day at Scrap Matrix yesterday. Today we were given a kit-let, and the sketch is from Once Upon A Sketch:

Here is a closer look at the sketch from Once Upon A Sketch:

Beautiful isn't it?

This is the page I made with the kit-let, a couple of extra flowers and an extra cameo frame I bought and the classroom supplies:

To create this page I started by using gesso through a Prima stencil. I then used Lindy's Stamp Gang and Primary Elements sprays in orange, white and grey with a paintbrush to color wash the background. I used a baby wipe to wipe some of the color off the gesso. I then splashed some of the orange onto the background. While this dried I painted the dress form with black gesso, and when it was dry "dressed" the form in the washi tape. I then gathered scraps of paper and flowers from previous classes, antique lace, a dry paper towel from my stash I take to class every week and created the bulk of the page. I then added some orange art glass fragments with soft gel matte medium. Next was my title and the extra washi tape to bring my page together. Then I added the splashes of black ink, making sure to cover my photos. Last of all I added my journalling.

Texture Tuesdays @ Scrap Matrix

Hello Everyone,

Over the last 7 weeks I have been attending Texture Tuesdays @ Scrap Matrix. These "play" sessions are filled with talking, laughing, sharing and creating. Each week Vicki, the owner, supplies a small selection of bits and pieces from the store for us to play with. I try to take a picture of when we start with but I've only managed to a couple of times so far, I just get excited and start, lol. It is quite amazing how different our work ends up, but we bounce ideas off each other and have a wonderful time.

So here are the pages I have created @ Texture Tuesdays:

September 16th: This was official my first week @ Texture Tuesday and I was excited to see what Vicki had selected for us to use... and I wasn't disappointed. Here is the page I completed:

September 23rd: The pack Vicki put together this week was really different to the week before. This week was strong graphic papers. Really happy with completed pages, I got 2 double pages done this week. Here they are:

October 7th: This weeks kit had a vintagey feel to it. Our play session was cut short this week as I headed into Darwin to meet Michelle Bridges, it was a very interesting afternoon and well worth the drive in. Here is the page I created:

October 14th: This week Vicki asked me what style I would like to scrap and I said Shabby Chic. She put together an amazing selection of products! There are the resulting pages:

October 21st: This weeks bits and pieces were super cool. Lots of metal trinkets and flowers to use. I We decided to use the 7Dots Studio Oct-Nov Challenge for inspiration.

I created the background with a Prima stencil and the hand colored it in with my H20's. Here's the completed page:

October 28th: This week Vicki allowed me to chose 2 paper from her new papers, a packet of flowers and a chipboard fence from the shop. We decided to create a page about a woman or women who are part of our life. I decided to make a page about my mum and how she has helped to shape the woman I am. Here is my page:

November 4th: Unfortunately I missed this week because as I was driving my DS (dear son) to school  a truck flicked a rock and broke my windscreen, so I had to go and get it fixed and that took pretty much all of our normal scrapping time, but Vicki set our kit aside and we would have used for this week.

November 11th: Finally we are up to this week. As I wrote for last week, we used what was set aside for last week. I forgot to take a picture of the products before I started, but I am really happy with the result. Here is the page I created:

I hope in future that my Texture Tuesday post will be a little more involved to explain more about what I did each week.
