Challenge Tuesdays @ Scrap Matrix - 19/05/2015

Hello Everyone,

It was back to Scrap Matrix this week as Vicki returned from her trip and straight back into creating. I'm going to call Tuesdays 'Challenge Tuesdays @ Scrap Matrix' from now on, as that is what we are going to do on Tuesdays, lol.

This week I decided to start with Kraft+ , and here is the moodboard for the month:

I started with a rough idea of what I wanted to do and went looking for a die to cut some branches as I was inspired by the foliage in several of the photos. Below is what I started with.

From there I got out the spray mists and I used two green mists, one from Primary Elements and one from Perfect Pearl to color my branches. I then took a scrap of muslin and sprayed it with three orange mists, one from Primary Elements (Ginger Peach), one from Perfect Pearls (Mandarin) and a third I can't remember the name for. I then pulled scraps from my previous Tuesdays that represented for me the colors in the moodboard and created the layered papers behind my photo. The white around the photos was inspired by the white around the photos in the moodboard. While waiting for stuff to dry I grabbed some twine from the shelf and created the piece under the photo inspired by the twine in the photo. Once everything had I dried I glued it all together. This is how it looked at that point:

I knew I wanted to add something more, but did not have what I needed with me, so I packed it away to finish at home.

Next I decided to work on the Scrap Around the World moodboard for May:

I love the colors, it so pretty. I went straight for Blue Fern Studio Ombre Dreams and the b-side:

It is so beautiful, I ended up using a couple of the cards from the a-side as well. This is the basic set-up I am going to use:

But that was as far I a got because it was time to go home.

I will post final pages in their own post soon for their respective challenges.

Chat to you all again soon.

7 Dots April-May Challenge - Rainbows Entry

Hello Everyone,

As soon as I saw the 7 Dots Studio challenge I knew I wanted to do and I knew exactly what I was going to scrap about. Here is the challenge:

As I was reading the challenge blog post and looking at the DT's pages, one in particular stuck a cord with me:

Riikka wrote about how when she thought of rainbows she thought of treasure, and when she thought about treasure she thought about her family as her treasure.

When I thought about this I thought about the 10 years of my life and of all the trials that I had been through and especially about being a cancer survivor. To me each day is the treasure, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. That turning 40, next month, is the first goal I set myself after the shock of my diagnosis wore off. I wrote a list of all things I was going to do and see when I beat the cancer, a list to focus on and to fight for, to be my pots of gold to look for after the rain had moved on. That I could remember that the trials/rain will always move on and the will always be something on the other side.

This was the inspiration for my page, and as such it has no photo, it is more about my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and the colors for me represent my joy that I have just about reached this first goal and my excitement to continue on to my next, a bridge if you will.

So here is my page, the colors are not really shown in their full beauty, but I will try and take another picture later and add it at the end:

And here is a close-up of my pot of gold, lol:

P.S. My next goal is to see my children graduate from school, my first will do so at the end of the year :-)

CSI #160 Challenge Entry

Hello Everyone,

From the first moment I saw this case file I knew I wanted to do it. This is CSI, Case File #160.

Once again I decided to work in my hand made paper bag journal. This has definitely turned into my challenge journal, lol.

This is my completed layout:

I decided that I didn't want a big picture so I used the map paper instead. The evidence I chose to use include: map print, frames, flowers, transparent items (tags, butterfly and title), metal (hearts and frames on transparent tags), resin accent (cream heart), chevrons (background). The testimony I chose was journal about a trip.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

Tuesdays @ Scrap Matrix -14/04/15

Helllo Everyone,

Today was CSI day at Scrap Matrix. We decided to create with one of the two current challenges, and I chose case file #161.

This was a very unusual Color scheme for me, so I really enjoyed the "challenge". The evidence I chose to use were: circles (the polka dot paper and embellishments ), wet medium (the texture paste), triangles (on my background) and something that flies (there are 2 birds and a butterfly). The testimony I chose was Inspo Words fly and imagine, I used them in my journaling.

I start this page by going through my stash and I found the perfect paper pad to complete this challenge: Sweet Pea by Kaiser Craft. The colors just matched perfectly. I then went through the pad and pulled out all the papers and die-cuts I thought I would use. I then went through my embellishment collection and put all the bits and pieces I thought would go with my idea of the page. Packed them all in a plastic file folder and headed off to Scrap Matrix.

I really enjoyed putting this one together and the photo of DH and DD was perfect. This is the second time I have played in my paper bag journal, I think it has just become my challenge journal, lol.

Here is a couple of close-ups of the page:

Tuesdays @ Scrap Matrix -07/04/15

Hello Everyone,

Here is the April Retro Recipe Challenge for Kraft+.

I love this challenge/moodboard. The colors are not really a combo I would usually use and the mixture of extra was also very interesting.

Here is my finished journal page:

Tuesdays @ Scrap Matrix -03/03/15

Hello Everyone,

Today at Scrap Matrix I completed two lots of pages. Unfortunately I forgot to upload them, but that's ok. I worked on the two layout at the same time, using drying time of each to work on the other.

The first is from sketchabilities and it has quite a bit going on and i really loved the trailing leaves and the hearts, so I centered the page around that.

The second page I worked on was from a brand new challenge blog called Kraft+. This was their second challenge.

Sorry I Have Been Absent

Hello Everyone,

December and January are holiday time here for n Australia and so I have been spending a lot of time doing things with my kids, just enjoying being with them and watching movies and the like as they are older now and they want to "do" other things less.

I have also been doing some art and scrapbooking things, but not really recording any of it on here, I have just been enjoying the process. I have joined several art journaling projects journal Journey with Kreative Koncepts and The Documented Life with Art to the 5th, Inspiration Wednesday's with Donna Downey, and I am watching Creative JumpStart 2015. Hopefully I can get back to more normal "craft and show" next month with the kids back at school. It will also depend if I go back into the workforce, I have applied for some jobs, we will see how it goes.

Hopefully soon, I will put some pictures up of what I have been doing and we will go from there.

Chat to you all again soon.
