7 Dots April-May Challenge - Rainbows Entry

Hello Everyone,

As soon as I saw the 7 Dots Studio challenge I knew I wanted to do and I knew exactly what I was going to scrap about. Here is the challenge:

As I was reading the challenge blog post and looking at the DT's pages, one in particular stuck a cord with me:

Riikka wrote about how when she thought of rainbows she thought of treasure, and when she thought about treasure she thought about her family as her treasure.

When I thought about this I thought about the 10 years of my life and of all the trials that I had been through and especially about being a cancer survivor. To me each day is the treasure, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. That turning 40, next month, is the first goal I set myself after the shock of my diagnosis wore off. I wrote a list of all things I was going to do and see when I beat the cancer, a list to focus on and to fight for, to be my pots of gold to look for after the rain had moved on. That I could remember that the trials/rain will always move on and the will always be something on the other side.

This was the inspiration for my page, and as such it has no photo, it is more about my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and the colors for me represent my joy that I have just about reached this first goal and my excitement to continue on to my next, a bridge if you will.

So here is my page, the colors are not really shown in their full beauty, but I will try and take another picture later and add it at the end:

And here is a close-up of my pot of gold, lol:

P.S. My next goal is to see my children graduate from school, my first will do so at the end of the year :-)

Texture Tuesday @ Scrap Matrix - 18/11/2014

Hello Everyone,

We had another great day at Scrap Matrix yesterday. Today we were given a kit-let, and the sketch is from Once Upon A Sketch:

Here is a closer look at the sketch from Once Upon A Sketch:

Beautiful isn't it?

This is the page I made with the kit-let, a couple of extra flowers and an extra cameo frame I bought and the classroom supplies:

To create this page I started by using gesso through a Prima stencil. I then used Lindy's Stamp Gang and Primary Elements sprays in orange, white and grey with a paintbrush to color wash the background. I used a baby wipe to wipe some of the color off the gesso. I then splashed some of the orange onto the background. While this dried I painted the dress form with black gesso, and when it was dry "dressed" the form in the washi tape. I then gathered scraps of paper and flowers from previous classes, antique lace, a dry paper towel from my stash I take to class every week and created the bulk of the page. I then added some orange art glass fragments with soft gel matte medium. Next was my title and the extra washi tape to bring my page together. Then I added the splashes of black ink, making sure to cover my photos. Last of all I added my journalling.

Here are some close ups:
